A frozen tuna on a cart passing through, and giving us another photo opportunnity. |
It seems that the buyers determine the freshness of the tunas by making a slice near the tail. |
Markings made on the tuna identifies the buyer. |
All through the morning, there is a long line of visitors waiting to enter the auction area. |
Security are posted to maintain order and ensure that the visitors do not get in the way of business being conducted. |
The line to visit the auction hall is long, but it moves fairly quickly. |
In the stalls adjacent to the auction hall, many other kinds of seafood are available. Here is a tub full of live eel. |
Freshly made unagi - roasted eel made right at the market. |
We bought some of these unagi as snack, and each piece is about US$4.00 |
Various fresh shell fish on display. |
Giant shrimp, I think they are US$20 each! |
Trays of sea urchin, one of the more expensive sushi ingredients. |
Different cuts of tuna in the display case. |
Outside the market, trucks are lines up waiting to load the seafood to be delivered. |
